I'm NOT quitting music! ;)

Hi everybody!

It's been a longgg while since I have posted anything about my music! I wanted to take a moment to update everyone on what's been going on!

So... let's start at the very beginning. I want to clear up a very miss-understood rumor floating around. I have been asked, more times than I can count, if I have quit music. The answer is very simply NO! ;) I love music. It has been, and remains, my first love and passion in life and I know for 100% certainty that I want to be a musician. I have completed about 90% of writing and pre-production for my debut album. I still have a long way to go and that takes money and funding that I don't currently have. This is where I'm at. It's life, and it's ok. It will happen. I'm learning patience.

There's another part of this story that I'm very excited to share with you all. As most of you, if not all of you know, starting and growing a business is very difficult. There are many different variables that come up that can change the course we are all on called "life". Mine has been kind of crazy as of late. Not bad, just crazy.

So here's the thing... My plan was to work over holiday to get funds together for the remainder of the album. It didn't happen. I applied, and applied... and applied. Nothing. It wasn't meant to be I guess, cool. Moving on.

I decided to hire myself. :) See, I had this design business that I had started back in college called "Hipster Perspective". I never really promoted it. I did a lot of behind the scenes stuff for other people. Things like album artwork, photography, and wedding decor. Nothing major just little things here and there to keep the creative juices flowing. I have, however, always done design in some fashion or another. I did every bit of promotional material for my debut EP released in 2014. Website, logo, artwork, everything. This was done side by side with my music career. Same as today. The only difference today is that I am now promoting "Hipster Perspective" as it's own separate entity. I am very excited to be doing this full time as a means of support for my other passions, like.........MUSIC!

So what is Hipster Perspective? I have had this question repeatedly come up and I would like to clear up some things! :) I am the Creative Director and Founder of Hipster Perspective. We are a creative company specializing in design, decor, and promotional services. If you head over to HipsterPerspective.com you can read all about what we do and see some of the things we offer. We also design and make prints. What are prints? Prints are artwork. We offer framed and unframed prints of all different styles, sizes, and finishes. We have started selling prints at multiple locations around the middle GA area. Our prints can currently be found at Village Marketplace located on 2381 Ingleside Ave, Macon, GA 31204. We are also selling prints at multiple festivals and markets in the area. Follow us on Instagram and Facebook for the latest updates (Links below). If anyone has any other questions about anything feel free to contact me. Hope this helps explain what's been going on lately.

Life is about going with the flow. BTW, this album is going to be so.. much... fun! :)

Be confident!

Be confident!

Confidence is a difficult subject for me. I have always been an independent person and confident in myself and my abilities. The last few years I unfortunately got wrapped up in a business relationship that destroyed that confidence. Constantly tearing me down till there was almost nothing left. I was so unsure of who I was and what I wanted that I began making decisions out of fear instead of clear thought processes. After taking some time off and re-evaluating a few things, I began surrounding myself with positive, uplifting, and encouraging people. This has helped me gain confidence back. It's still an every day battle but it's getting better and better.

This brings me to my next point. I have always felt that confidence carries close ties to arrogance. This line can get very blurry, very fast. One of my constant worries is that someone will mistake confidence with arrogance. Does anyone else feel this way sometimes? Just curious!

•••••

ar • ro • gance

: an insulting way of thinking or behaving that comes from believing that you are better, smarter, or more important than other people

con • fi • dence

: a feeling or belief that you can do something well or succeed at something

•••••

I hope everyone strives to be confident in themselves! Learn what you love to do, work hard, and know that you are great! DO NOT let anyone ever tell you anything different!

I'll be posting another blog post sometime next week about some upcoming things! Thanks for your support everybody!

Always be yourself!

So I'm laying here on this couch taking a break from writing music with my cousin... because once again, I have a headache. They seem to come and go more frequently (more on that later). While I'm laying here I can hear him playing piano. This guy is awesome at what he does and he has done an amazing job with this album so far! I cannot wait for you guys to hear what we have made! (If you wanna follow him on social media I know his Instagram username is @nathant.collins!) Anyways, this album is going to be insane from start to finish! Nathan has taken my thoughts and ideas and morphed them into something tangible. This album reminds me every time we get together to be myself! And I have... Remember to not let anyone tell you anything other than you are great! I have surrounded myself with positive, encouraging, and uplifting people that are genuinely rooting for me to succeed! They have helped me gain back my confidence. This industry is incredibly tough as is any career I'm sure.

The following lyrics play in my mind every morning when I wake up. I sing this to myself whenever I feel down and like I can't continue or when I feel great and like I can conquer the world!

 >>>Who you are - Jessie J<<<

I stare at my reflection in the mirror
Why am I doing this to myself?
Losing my mind on a tiny error,
I nearly left the real me on the shelf
No, no, no, no

Don't lose who you are, in the blur of the stars
Seeing is deceiving, dreaming is believing,
It's okay not to be okay
Sometimes it's hard, to follow your heart
Tears don't mean you're losing, everybody's bruising,
Just be true to who you are

Brushing my hair, do I look perfect?
I forgot what to do to fit the mold, yeah
The more I try the less it's working, yeah,
'Cause everything inside me screams, no, no, no, no, yeah

Don't lose who you are, in the blur of the stars
Seeing is deceiving, dreaming is believing
It's okay not to be okay
Sometimes it's hard, to follow your heart
But tears don't mean you're losing, everybody's bruising
There's nothing wrong with who you are

Yes, no's, egos, fake shows
Like woo, just go, and leave me alone
Real talk, real life, good love, goodnight
With a smile , that's my own
That's my own, no, no, no, no, no

Don't lose who you are, in the blur of the stars
Seeing is deceiving, dreaming is believing
It's okay not to be okay
Sometimes it's hard, to follow your heart
Tears don't mean you're losing, everybody's bruising
Just be true to who you are

Remember, Always be yourself!!!
